Autonomic nervous system - The autonomic nervous system is the part of the nervous system of the higher life forms that is not consciously controlled. It is commonly divided into two usually antagonistic subsystems: the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system.
Sympathetic nervous system - The sympathetic nervous system (SNS) is one-half of the autonomic nervous system; the parasympathetic nervous system (PNS) is the other.
Enteric nervous system - The enteric nervous system (ENS) is an interdependent part of the autonomic nervous system. Despite its many interactions with other parts of the ANS, it can be regarded as a nerval body of its own.
